This (my apologies, really long) entry begins what promises to be a series of posts about an amazing family. I can’t even begin to tell you what an honor it is for me to be a part of this story (just thinking about it makes me choky!). I met Jenn and Jason several months ago at our friend Betty’s house and learned that they were in the process of adopting a child from Colombia. Well, that’s exciting in itself, so when I saw them again I’d ask how things were going as they waded through the paperwork. I’m boggled at how much patience parents who adopt must have, because there are so many hoops to jump through, forms to complete, papers to mail–really, it’s mind boggling.
I happened to be present when Jason announced this spring that they had found their child! Whoops, make that children! I hadn’t realized that Jenn and Jason were going through the adoption process and offering to adopt more than one child if there was a family to keep together. They’d indicated that they could take two or three children! Isn’t that amazing? What’s even more amazing is that when they were contacted and told that there was a family of four girls who needed a home, they didn’t hesitate for an instant! From that moment on, in their minds, they were a family of not two, but six. Sandra (9), Erika (8), Deisy (6), and Laura (5). I am completely humbled by their big hearts! It’s a good thing Jackson, the dog, is a boy, because Jason is now seriously outnumbered!
There has been a real outpouring of love and support for this beautiful family and Betty was trying to decide what to give them as her gift for the family. Guess what she picked? Pictures! Jenn has picture frames everywhere, all over the house, ready to go (plus a blank wall or two). Betty and I are working together to set up a gift registry for Jenn, because Betty’s gotten quite a few people excited about being part of this gift.
Jenn and Jason are in Colombia this very moment. They have just finished their first week of hands on parenting. This morning, Betty and I paid a visit to their house and took some pictures of the girls’ new home, to start on their album. Check these out:
The girls have a sweet playroom in addition to their bedrooms. It’s not completely decorated yet, but isn’t it awesome? The girls mailed the artwork from Colombia to Jenn and Jason.

The girls are sharing bedrooms, two to each room. The older girls’ room is purple; the younger girls’ is pink. They share a bathroom. Jenn has put a ton of work into getting ready for them! Isn’t it beautiful? (You can tell I had to use my fisheye–I wanted to get the whole thing in!)

I know I am not alone in saying that I am really looking forward to meeting Jenn and Jason’s daughters! You can learn more about their journey by visiting their blog. If you have any interest in sharing in their gift, their registry is here (if my link doesn’t work, the ID number is 112108080823). Betty and I are looking forward to putting together some really amazing photo gifts for this sweet family!
